My stories will never change cause they're real

Then your memory must be bad for the shot distances to go from 200 to 300 yards,to less than 150 yards,to very close, and the land from owned or have permission,to owned or leased.

I passed on the biggest Mulie I've ever seen in in my life September 2 because I thought he was too far away.

I don't have a range finder, but I guesstimate the range was about 250 yards.

Typical deer encounter, from a few seasons back.
Giant buck jumps to his feet, (boink) distance, fifty feet, dense brush. I get the rifle to my shoulder, (boink) deer is gone! No shot fired, didn't even get to see him over the sights..
I got one quick glimpse, and that was all. Probably the biggest buck I will ever see. Disappeared in one boink!
It made a memory that will stick in my mind to my grave. A beautiful moment, even if I didn't score.
It's this sort of jump shooting that is so typical of still hunting, and deer drives, in Ontario's central and northern brush, that calls for running shots.
Some years, a deer will come out and stand for you. Most of the time, all you see is a flash. If you are ready, you get the deer, if you are not, you don't.

If my cross hairs stay on the vitals I pull the trigger. That is my general rule for meat hunting or just filling a tag on a buck.

BUT If it is a 190" buck and he is doing mock 10 across a field, standing behind some bush or a long ways out I will shoot. People will try to come across like they are SOOO ethical but the reaity is when a once in a life timer is out there and the shot is hard people still shoot.

Exactly!!!:D
I think all hunters want to be ethical professional hunters BUT! lets be real:)
I'd bet not one of you would pass up on a shot at what ever range running or not, behind some brush if the deer came out with a oak tree on his head;)

and if you say oh yes I would. under my breath I call LIAR;)

PERIOD:dancingbanana:

I ill take shots on running deer if they are within my abilities. I am not going to blast away at a running deer at 400 yards, though...

It's not the state of the deer (running/behind brush/far away) that makes the shot unethical, it's the skill of the hunter, the cartridge and rifle, the conditions AND the state of the animal.

This is why I use a 50bmg.......If that deer, moose,or gopher is standing behind an armour truck.....

I still have an "ethical" shot;)

50BMG......."Makes that shot ethical" No matter how far
