Do you think Remington should make a Wingmaster 18"?

Dogzilla:

Any idea if Epps can strip old blue/parkerizing and blue them? I checked with Armco but have not heard back. I don't think I need a choke on a short barrel (but I really don't know) but would like the bead or a fiber optic site put on.

Just got exactly the gun you are talking about, an 870 Wingmaster with a factory 18.5" barrel, 2 3/4 chamber, police wood and blued.

This is a police trade-in gun, it's stamped 79 on the barrel, and the "V" letter in the serial tells me the same. That shottie is 30 years old and is smooth as butter, sorry but this one is cycling better than all the Police Magnum I have and a lot lighter!

Stripping the old parkerizing shouldn't be a problem. If you want the nice deep blued mirror finish you may have to buff it a bit first. Again that's not a problem. Any gunsmith that offer's blueing can do all of that. If you want an 18" barrel, buy a blued 30" on EE and chop it. You can usually get them for about $80. If you can find a wingmaster in nice shape you won't need to re blue any of it

??

With the beautiful Wingmaster wood and a short barrel for tactical purposes? I personally think that'd be beautiful. Would it sell?

I dont think so, the 870"p" police is way better internally and has the metal trigger guard

If a barrel just under 20" is not too long then it is tough to beat an Ithaca Deerslayer for that glossy look. If you must have the Remington action then in almost the same barrel length you've got the Rem 870 turkey gun with all the rem choke options. But you have to give up the gloss for camo to get them.

There is a factory made 18" blued version one post above. Remington make all kinds of barrels less that 20" just a matter of finding one.
