When I wear camo it’s army surplus, it’s cheap and I don’t care if it gets dirty or bloddy or ripped. I mainly wear a mix of solid earth tone hiking pants (od green, tan, grey) and wool sweaters, plaid button up long sleeve shirts with a couple German surplus long sleeve camo shirts thrown in the mix. I’ve always worn milsurp camo since I was a kid, real tree or most of the other hunter specific patterns don’t really appeal to me. Not saying they aren’t effective, just not my taste. My favourite pieces are a merino/cashmere sweater and a lightweight brown-tan-green plaid long sleeve button up, I wear them all year and not just hunting.
If I’m rolling around in the truck and not hiking or sitting I’ll head out in jeans and t-shirts or a hoodie depending on the temperature. I’m more concerned with staying dry and warm than anything but I’ve collected a fair bit of army surplus fall and winter jackets since high school so I’m covered till I die lol. I mainly gravitate to German surplus, it got the best fabrics and doesn’t make much if any noise while walking in the bush.
