The original Docter scopes I saw appeared to be rebranded Carl Zeiss (Jena) scopes... produced in East Germany at an old Zeiss location (Jena) they (the Zeiss) were decent scopes for the money (typically between $200-275 Cdn) they were not nitrogen purged, usually equipped with a rail or were 26mm (NOT 1 inch) straight tubes. I though they were a pretty good deal and purchased several. When they were rebranded Docter the price took a pretty steep jump. Over time the Docter appeared to introduce additional scopes and the cosmetics changed... not sure if they got better or not for the money.
