Has anybody tried the doe decoys, they're plastic, and look like the real thing, standing 31" at the shoulders.
Any luck with these, it seems to be an interesting idea as there are compartments to house scent's and the electronic calls???

I used a montana decoy doe decoy last fall. It is a side view that folds up small and pops up when in use. A 5X5 snuck right up to it under my tree stand. He was totally focused on the decoy. He left and returned ten minutes later and looked at it again. I was using a doe bleat as a call and had a bit of doe in heat scent out. The date was mid October in the pre rut time.

Only problem was my muzzle loader misfired:(.

IMHO decoys work in the right situation but at over $100 they are way over priced. I think the same result can be achieved with a cardboard cut out and a tiny bit of artistic ability.

I would be hesitant to use a decoy during gun season...even during bow...you never know what kind of idiots are out there trespassing/poaching.

It definitely has to be private land, to even be considered.

I have the two sided plastic one made by Renzo. They look pretty realistic from a short distance.

I have only used it a couple times, but had a small doe come eat beside it. After 5 minutes the doe started getting real close to the decoy, and then proceeded to lick the decoys neck and head. Was the funniest thing to watch. She came the next day and did the same thing.

That's awesome, I guess the real smart thing is to use them where you can only shoot bucks, so people don't get ignorant and just destroy your decoy you paid $100 for...lol what a piss off that would be

A buck only season in no way keeps idiots from shooting. My set up was very far away and very secluded from other hunters. Even at that I was up in a tree. I would be very hesitant to hunt on the ground even on private land with a decoy. Never ever let it be visible from a road or trail regardless. Just too many fools out there.

I'd have to agree with you. Even "private land" isn't so private any more.

Ya, I should add, that I was up in a tree. Whats nice about the Renzo decoys, is that they are super light to carry, and fold up so your not walking through the woods with a complete deer. Price is around $40.

Here is a pic I have so you can see what it looks like. If I was not standing behind the decoy blocking the sun on half of it, the pic would have come out much better, but you can get an idea from looking at the front half of the decoy.

That's one short deer! :p

Its an interesting tactic, lol definite risks (other hunters) but those guys are teh same people that blast off sound shots when your doing your damnedest to call in an animal...

The local CO's use a nice big buck decoy to grab-up road-hunting poachers around here.

(Most of them can't shoot worth a damn, either ! ) You should hear the excuses they come up with for what they were doing !

I have two Flambeau does, one feeding the other alert.

They worked very well on my muzzleloader hunt. I put a rag with doe urine on it inside the decoy (the body is hollow).

I was on private land no where near a road tho.....they look a bit too real and you might get a hole punched in one by some idiot.

In the off season, they are "stored" in the garden in the yard.....and this weekend I found out that is not a good idea as the plastic deteriorates at the joints.
