Go with the whelen. You will not be disappointed.
I like 35s as much as any here, but it would really depend on what you are planning on using a Whelen for.As the owner of 2 30/06 rifles, would I be gaining enough to justify re- barreling one to .35 Whelen ?thanks
Funny,I was kind of hoping when I started this thread that someone would tell me I could negate any advantage of the .35 through working up a good load with the .06. I plan on using it on bigger ungulates such as moose and maybe elk in the future. One determining factor is that I have enough .30 cal projectiles of various manufacture to last me a lifetime.I like 35s as much as any here, but it would really depend on what you are planning on using a Whelen for.
A 30/06 with TSX or Partition bullet really doesn't give up much to a 35Whelen on heavier game and there would be no advantage of the 35 over a 30 for deer.

I would be tempted to just skip over the .35 and go to one of the 375-06's or maybe a 9.3x62
