Does .40 barrel go into 9mm pistol?

I know that some 1911 pistols in .40 will accept a 9mm barrel but will a 9mm accept a .40? Pistol in question is a new S&W Pro Series in 9mm and now I'm thinking about going .40 for IPSC. This would be more of a fun thing rather than wanting to go all out with a seperate IPSC rig if possible.

most of the time you can do the oposite a 9m barrel in a 40 but not a 40 in a 9
