I had one with the single action bar. I had a partial out-of-battery detonation of a 3" magnum shell caused by the sloppy lock-up and excessive firing pin protrusion. The insides of the receiver were gouged all over by pieces of brass and steel shot due to the Ka-boom. Had the firing pin replaced and the firearm inspected by a competent gunsmith. Shortly thereafter the single action bar broke at the point it attached to the front pump/handguard. Fixed it and then sold it cheap to an area resident who was fully apprised of the issues with the shotgun. I didn't trust it, even though it was judged to be in safe working order.
I also had a later model with the twin action bars. I use it as a loaner shotgun for friends/family who want to take in a day bunny hunting or duck/goose hunting and don't own/forgot their shotgun. Unlike the other Maverick, this one has run like a top and I've had zero issues with it. I personally wouldn't pick it as my personal, "goto" shotgun but if you're on a tight budget, its an okay choice. I'm much rather opt for a Remington 870 Express, however. The 870 is 10X the shotgun the Maverick is.
