I was thinking about amuzzlebreak on my 30-06 and was wondering if this affects the velocity of the bullets....

Does someone have tested with a chrono...

thanks

Look at it another way - If I was to add 3" to the length a rifle barrel, I would want to get more velocity. The ported devise or section of barrel will not increase velocity - unless you have a model which you can turn off. If you shoot at the range with the break functioning, then go afield with it off, the POI might change, although it would be more noticeable with an over bore cartridge than it would be with an '06. In the field, I would not want to carry an inch of barrel length that did not contribute to the velocity of my bullets.

^ Agreed. I wouldn't bother putting a brake on a hunting rifle. Target rifle - sure, and maybe, if I had a 460 cannon or a 577, I might brake that too. Otherwise, they're too impractical for field shooting.
