Does anybody else do the Rauch Tactical Tenfer coating?

Got ours today.....lookin good I guess..(I'm not there, my dad got them both, I'm stuck here in the USA hunting with a stupid AK....it sucks!)

(I do actually like my 858 with the upgrades better than this AK thing my buddy has.......oddly enough..haha)

I owned AK's for a couple of years, I keep telling people that the Vz is a better rifle, but no - all you hear is AK this, and AK that.

It depends on the AK, I think the '58 is better than most AKs but not compared to more modern, higher end AK incarnations.

Anyway I got my Vz58 treated in the 2nd batch and the finish is still flawless despite many hard miles hiking through the woods and rounds downrange.

My 858 was treated in the 2nd batch and yes finish is great, hold very very well and corrosion resistance seems perfect so far. I cleaned my bore like i always do but i didnt clean my muzzle break yet and after many hundreds of corrosive ammo, still no single trace of rust.:)

I've got mine back. Looks fantastic for the most part. He forgot to send me back my AR stock adaptor and muzzle brake...

How the F$%^&K do I get the action spring back on the dust cover rod and simultaneously get that looped hook and plug thing back in the spring and attached?

Shown next to an AR for blackness comparison. It is a very black finish.

I have those marks on either side too. I assume they are fixturing marks when they were dipped.

I believe you are asking about this...?

Thanks for posting the pics ESQ! The gun looks great! I am really looking forward to getting mine back!!!

Got it back! The finish looks great, except for the marks on both sides... Can someone comment on this? Is it from the original manufacturer or is it from the tennifer process???

As others said, it's a very black finish, I LIKE IT! Especially considering it will withstand the corrosive ammo I intend to feed it now!

Cheers & Thanks Sean!!!

Might be some machining marks from when the rifles were made. The original VZ thick paint would mask the machine marks on the receivers. Mine is the same, but I really like the tenfor finish and am happy with it.

Nope, it's not machining marks that I am referring to. Have a look at ESQ's pic, about 1/4 of the way back from the front of the receiver... It looks like a 'scorch' mark... It's on both sides and is about the size of a two dollar coin... Is this 'factory' or a symptom of the tennifer process? I agree that the factory paint would cover this if it was from the factory...

I echo what you said Steiner, I LIKE THE FINISH! Here's hoping the tennifer is all it's cracked up to be wrt shooting corrosive ammo!

It is. After a day of shooting I spray out the barrel with break clean and run a bore snake through. Then run and oiled patch through. I only do a thorugh cleaning once every couple months.

Best $100 I ever spent.

While I DO have a mark, Jay's does appear to be much more visible.

Also not sure how much Jay has cleaned his since he got it back but as Pig4000 said, clean it well as there is an amount of residue left on the surface.

*Cannot remember if cleaning my rifle diminished the appearance of the 'mark'...?*

I had figured the mark would likely come off with a very fine metal polish (autosol) I have used in the past. The rust protection is well worth the presence of any minor marks as I see it.

My rifle... As you can see the mag is still painted... The rifle is very black with the tennifer coating, I LIKE IT!

Cheers
Jay
