Does anyone carry short mossberg 500 barrels?

Mossberg is an American company and IIRC shotguns with barrels shorter than 18" are illegal in the states.

apparently its 18"

Thanks for the replies. I see everybody with short 870's but I want a short mossberg. Where is the love? I also don't think a barrel should be more than a new whole gun. So the quest continues.

In the same boat, would like a shorter barrel for my Moss 500.
Hard to find and what little is available is costly.

Still one of the best SG's money can buy.

-LOL, I saved a bunch off the ORIGINAL retail pricing buying the kit off the EE ;-)
No biggie, just glad I got one while I could. They won't be around for long.
Since that photo I've spent a bunch having it Vang-Comped & additional mods by TacOrd,
plus S&J & Shoten Armory parts and I'd have to guess that this is just about the
most expensive Mossberg build anyone has put together. Ever?!

That set up (except the stock and slide release) is what a DEA guy I ran into in Florida was running, he said that it was issue for his unit, very slick set up - and the only issue Vang Comped gun I've ever seen. Shooting it convinced me that the Vang Comp system is well worth the investment.

OP - just changing the barrel isn't possible, because on the Mossies the mag tube/barrel ring won't work due to length differences, you must do the full conversion, or buy a short barreled factory gun.

Our US shotgun is a 12 GA Rossi double barrel coach gun with 20" bbls and exposed hammers.
It can be disassembled in seconds into 3 parts and carried in a compact case along with our BLR takedown.
Two very fast shots.
Even faster than a pump which in Canada and most US jurisdictions can legally only hold 3 shots.
