Does anyone else think that a gun chambered in .308win is NOT a varmint rifle???

I used a heavy barrelled 308 to take plenty of coyotes. And my 223 does more damage to the hides with certain bullets than good ol' 150 gr Interlocks ever did. It's actually surprising how little damage there was to most of them. And I always got a 'bang flop' out of the '08 too.

Ever seen what a 220 grain Silvertip does to a ground hog?
That Remington Varmint chambered in .243 Win is rifled for deer bullets. Other makes do the same thing. There really isn't a factory "varmint rifle". Just regular hunting rifles with heavy barrels.
There are places in Africa where Dumbo is a varmint. However, the definition of 'varmint' doesn't include the word 'annoying'.

Any rifle you shoot varmints with is a varmint rifle. 338 Lapua makes a great long range coyote gun, if you can afford the ammo for it.
