Does anyone else think they should have a higher end precision rifle category in EE?

It seems to me on the equipment exchange here there's a ton of budget line "precision rifles" on that section of the EE that are nothing more than a standard hunting rifle with a heavier barrel and maybe slightly better stock and barrel. I think it would be nice to have 2 categories like there are in optics. say 3k and up on the precision rifles so stuff like Cadex, PGW, Sako, Dessert tech etc. not knocking some of the budget stuff like the Ruger RPR but it doesn't belong in the high end category.

If you are looking at the high end stuff, you likely already have an idea what you want... the search function works

Had one. government made it a prohib...PGWDTI LRT-3

just out of curiosity how is the higher end scope thingy working

the 2 forums work well for the scope ee

don’t know if it would be the same for rifles but it might depending on not only price but must have a custome action or at least 3 things done to it,

trigger, barrel and rail?

not sure how to structure it but I,think it is worth a try

again the scope section is a lot better in my opinion

The precision rifle EE moves so slowly already I don't think we need to change it. Maybe just have more ads bumped to the forum they belong in.

High end does not always mean - precision or tactical....

With very well established watch forums where they (members and online stores) sell hundreds of thousands of dollars of (used & lnib) timepieces annually for decades now - they make it simple: Watches Over X$0,000's, watches Under X$0,000's.....so perhaps Rifles Over $3000 WTS and Rifles Under $3000 WTS as an example. Take a poll on this one for our forum..

I think it achieves the separation some may be seeking

The problem with a price separation line is that it doesn't solve the OP's request. For instance a used Terminus Zeus action at $1700 wouldn't separate from a NIB Ruger PRS at $1700.

OP asked about a rifle category, not a rifle 'parts' category as I understand.....

It does wear me down when I see a Rem 700 Sendero posted as a precision rifle.

The problem is how we could specify what is actually a premium rifle.

AI, Barret, PGW, Defiance? Everyone has an opinion.

Checking the EE is like when mail used to be paper. Excuse to check regularly. Search works too. Rifles over $3K move so slow the sub forum might not get checked much.

There are already four separate EE sections for rifles. All the handguns are crammed into one. If the mods are going to subdivide a thread I'd recommend they sub divide handguns before they make a precision rifle and precisioner rifle section.

I think what the Op is asking for can be better achieved by updating the READ ME sticky for precision rifles to advise people that their bone stock Savage 10 Tr and their custom ruger 10/22 are not precision rifles.

Wouldn’t need one if people would just post their 700 sps or tikka varmint or whatever in the hunting rifle section where it belongs.
I understand where the confusion could be as for a long time, I thought “precision” referred to an “accurate” rifle capable of shooting small groups. It was not until someone took the time to explain that “precision” referred to the “style/platform” the rifle is based on.
