does anyone know what years the Wm Moore double barrel shotguns were made? based on the caliber marking ( the diamond with 10 and C inside) i think it was made between 1898-1924. it is in 10 gauge and appears to have a low 2 digit serial number under the reciever, locks, forarm metal, and barrels. if anyone knows what year it is that would be awsome. thanks

This is a case where you really have to be careful. WM Moore was an English gun maker. However, the Belgians were noted for playing on well known English gun maker's names and this gun has Belgian proof marks and is a lower grade gun. Whether it had anything to do with the original WM Moore is hard to say. The date of your gun can be narrowed down. The diamond with the gauge within was used from 1898 to 1924. The choke designation was used from 1924 to the present. The letter E is for inspector Jamart Auguste who was at the proof house from 1924 to 1959. From this info the gun should have been made around 1924. If you google WM Moore you will find a fair bit of info on the English and Belgian guns.

Strange; I have had 2 or 3 Wm Moores and they all had british proof marks. Are you sure it says William Moore and not just Moore? The belgian copy cats that I have seen tended not to use exact names but rather partial ones that implied a reputable british firm.

cheers mooncoon
