The 8" can be a little picky about ammo (match chamber).
I always shave the bolt face, pin the firing pin, radius the bolt, polish everything, synthetic bolt buffer, etc. Use a VQ extractor and you're ready to rock.
Same as any 10/22, you should just put some sweet goodies in the receiver and make her run 100%.
I've got one. It hates Federal bulk pack ammo, but it runs great with CCI Mini Mags. I've picked up some Remington Cyclone and Thunderbolts to try out, just haven't yet. If it won't run on the cheap stuff I'll get to work on the mods sxyglock17 suggested. Oh by the way I'm using BC Steel Lips mags in mine.
I just got back from trying out the Remington ammo, works great no problems with using this ammo in my KP. However on a non ammo issue one of my Steel Lips mags has s**t the bed and won't push the rounds up to be fed into the chamber, any one have a simple fix for this.

I use a nail file (stolen from the GF) to polish the inner areas around the steel lips. My mags feed as well as .22 can now. My 16 inch ONLY eats standard velocity good quality ammo due to the match brl. BUT it is deadly accurate at 100 yards! Not looking at MOA just dead rodents
