I recently bought a game feeder from Cabela's to use in New Brunswick for whitetails, seeing as it is a 3 hour drive for me to get to my hunting location, a feeder woud be far better than using apples etc.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone has any experiences to share? tips and tricks? photos?

Where did you put your feeder? what do you put in it? what time of day is it programmed for? etc....

I have used a few for several years with good sucsess. Pick yourself up a 55 gallon drum to hook it up to. If there are bears around the it will have to hang inbetween two trees to prevent it from getting thrashed. You will save lots of money and time from going back and forth.

It works great for bears of all sizes, but most deer wich come in during the early hunting season are usually 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 of age the mature ones dont come into it usually till late season. I have taken a 4 1/2 beauty last year but he came in to check does and not really to eat but it worked out.

.

I have a 40 lb unit (5 gallon bucket) I plan to use very little feed (I am thinking corn) my stand is set up for archery, 20 yds looking over an intersection of 2 trails.
My thoughts were to use just enough feed to get them to stop and browse a bit while crossing the trail.

As far as bear and coons, I was planning to cantilever the pail out from a tree about 7-8 ft high and wrap barbed wire around the tree trunk. I have no idea if this would work.

I just set up my tree stand at the local petting zoo.

the staff handle all the timing and refills for me. ;)

Is this a comment on the ethics of baiting? If, I must tell you, I live in a province with no deer and have only 4 days plus a weekend to go. I may now have another 4 days when I get my Bowhunter's certification.

Corn works great, hook up a cable very tight between two trees at least 12 ft high, use a snatch block pully in the middle, and one of those boat winches on another tree. 5 gallon pale wont cut it unless your up there all the time feeding it. Out of the 40lbs of feed maybe 15-25 are actully going to the deer.

i think he think s that about his "free" diving and his experience spent in saudia arabia and his oppinion on treestands and camo and everything else ...for some reason if he does something superior to something that somebody else does he has to inform every body that thats the way it goes

personally this guys oppinion is starting to piss me off....

I was hoping when he blatantly attacked a members child for 'poaching' a rabbit that it would have taught him to STFU but apparently not....

dude, heres a bit of advice.. you are not superior to every body, and nobody wants to hear your belittling, so please for the sake of god, STFU..

grouseman. it's the internet and a free country. thus I am free to make state my opinion where and whenever I want.

so in short. eat a ####, or deal with it. I could really care less what you do.

"here's a bit of advice" HAHAHA now thats funny, no sentence from you to me should ever start with those words. good afternoon laugh that one :D

And he is right; you need a snorkle, wetsuit, dry suit, regulator, a set of b***ls, some KY jelly, a diaper (i am not lying about the last two), etc., etc.
He's just upset because those feeders aren't water proof yet. :p

no drysut. no regulator. no ky. no diaper.

using scuba to spear is for sissies :D now it you're talking tech diving, then yes, the above 4 are used too ;)

I was gonna simply delete the posts by the guys looking for infractions but I think I'll just close this whole thread cause I don't see one friggan post that answers his question.

68, feel free to start this thread over again and let me know if any one of these characters show up again causing crap and I'll deal with it accordingly.
