This was given to me by a retired surveillance guy. The canvas bag it came in said 2004.
There is no name or part number on it. It takes 2 x AA batteries. It looks brand new. The lens cover has a pin hole in it. I have no idea what it does or how it works. I'm thinking its some kind of night vision.

I have the same one. Only 2 buttons On/Off and IR light. Turn it on, look through it. focus the objective ring first, then fine tune the eye piece focus. These only amplify abmient light, if you are in total darkness you turn on the IR light. It doesn't shine very far. I use mine for scouting deer, I'll sit in my stand couple hours after dark to see what is moving. Can see accross a bean field with a little moon light. These are first gen night vision, works but not the greatest. Do not remove the cap and expose the unit to sunlight, there is phosphorus or something in there that makes is work. When you turn it off, it will still glow for a bit

There isn't really a point in it. Besides making sure it works before your fumbling around in the dark trying to figure out why it won't work.As well the cap will protect it, in the event it accidentally gets turned on during the day.

It's dark here now. Just tried it. Pretty awesome. I've never used any kind of night vision so I don't know what to compare it to. There is a bit of a fuzzy area in the middle. Don't know if that's just dirt on the lens or if part of the sensor is shot. Should I try cleaning it and how?

Cheers
