I saw some Woodleigh 180gr bullets for .270 and I was wondering what the advantages of such a heavy bullet is for .270. From what I understand at 180gr you might aswell just move to 30-06 or 308.

I remember Barnes used to make a 180gr.I liked the old CIL 160grRN for drilling deer lengthways, after jumping them from their beds.............Harold

I tried them in my son's Ruger Hawkeye, no dice. Stability in the air is one thing, but you need terminal stability as well as ballistic stability if the bullet is to perform optimally. If the stability in air is marginal, stability in a denser than air medium will be worse, and the benefit of choosing the heavier bullet will be lost. The .270/160 gr Partition is a nice bullet.
