Hi I was thinking about developing a hunting load for my 300 RUM and 338 win mag using the barnes LRX long range bullet. does anyone load these? how do the compare to Berger or othe LR hunting bullets?

thanks.

The B.C. is higher than the standard TTSX, but much lower than the Bergers. However, unlike Berger, the LRX will retain almost all of it's weight, and penetrate much deeper.

I shot a moose with the 175gr LRX in my .300 WSM last fall. Distance was about 75 yards so can't really comment on how they do at long range.

Have not taken any game with them yet, but I do know that the 175 LRX and the 180 TTSX
shoot to a similar point of impact at 100 & 200 meters. [308 Norma Mag]

After that, the LRX begins to show a bit flatter trajectory.

At 500 meters, the difference is about 4-5", so they show the BC difference.

Whether that will be an advantage to most shooters or not is a moot point, IMHO.
Within the distance that most game is shot, the LRX advantage is minimal, at best.

Regards, Eagleye.

I am planning on using the 145grLRX in my new 7mmstw, so I hope to compare it's effects on game to the 140TTSX that I use in my other 7mmSTW. I am going with the LRX, because they are more accurate than the 140TTSX in this rifle. The other rifle prefers the TTSX.

I have some loaded in my 338 Lapua . Hopefully gonna try tomorrow if the snows dropped enough for us to get to the local sand pit . Bullets sure look impressive .
