I have 3 boxes of REM 120'S 50 virgin brass and dies but no gun yet, and have a hankering to get a gun built in this chambering. I intend on using it for a varminter. I've been looking on TEC'S web page and can get a 98 for $300.00, but would like to find a Parker hale 98 in 308 or a BSA. There doesn't seem to be a 6.5 rem mag on the market anywhere, i've been looking for 2 years { i'm patient}. Even the 673 guide guns that were out a few years back have not surfaced, which leads me to believe that they are keepers, only the 350 Rem mag's are turning up. Am i crazy or what, yes i know the 6.5-284 would be a better choice but whatever. Tell me something good about this chambering.

I had a Sako Finnbear rechambered to 6.5 RM befor it was ever fired in the original 264 Win, & was never sorry, in the long action you can seat the bullets out where they belong & it doesn't fall too far behind the 264 Win, the barrel life is extended & was used as both a Varmiter with light bullets & a hunter with the Heavy bullets

buy a Rem Model Seven CDL in 350 RM and rebarrel...although personally I would not be using it for varminting unless your thing is extreme range coyotes and even then a 243 or 25-06 is just as good.

The 6.5 RM does the same thing a 6.5-06 will as far as volocity and does it with a hard to find belted case. I also considered the 6.5 RM but after looking deeper into it.....decided to steer clear. If you want a short 6.5 magnum why not look into the 6.5 WSM wildcat. All you have to do is buy a Rem 700 SPS in 270 WSM and spin the barrel and put on a quality aftermarket. This would be my choice. But from what I can remember Bashaw Sports still has some 6.5RM Guide Guns

...with a hard to find belted case.
He said he already has some loading supplies, and if some day he couldnt find any cases, you can buy a case form set to use any belted mag....which are NOT hard to find.

All you have to do is buy a Rem 700 SPS in 270 WSM and spin the barrel and put on a quality aftermarket.
You can do the same with any remington 700 or model seven in any WSM or SAUM and spin on a new 6.5 rem mag barrel which you can pimp out or leave as stock.
