Does anyone tan their hides?

I used to give my game hides to my Uncle for his leatherwork but he is slowing down and so is his buisness. I hate to see them go to waste. My Elk hide is a real dandy, I would like to tan it myself with the hair on. Would like to know if anyone out there has a simple methoed I could try.
