Are there circumstances where an increase in accuracy can be recognized if your reloaded rounds are consistently oriented wrt your chamber each time you fire them?
i.e. mark the case and always have the mark facing up when you chamber the round
Also if you are going to take it the farthest extet of consistant , Be sure that the brass enters the neck/ full length resize die at the same position as well.
There are some things that you can do to make good ammo and plenty of things you can do to make great ammo. I will bet that 99 % of shooters would not be able to produce better groups by cartridge/chamber orientation with bullet run out of .002" or less.
While in theory, such actions can work; only the most careful benchresters would ever know the difference. Hunting uses make such practices unworkable and unnecessary.
I have had two Ruger #1s that had wonky breech blocks or seats to the extent that when standing a fired case on a flat surface, the case had a visible lean to it.
This was kind of an extreme case, but aligning the cartridge (which of course was easily done in a #1) made for much smaller groups.
Yes, my old Winchester 1885 Hi-Wall .38-55, which is in another CGNer cabinet I used, only 1 case, seated the bullet same oriientation and dept in lands, primed, loaded powder case, pleget of kapok, inserted case to read Dominion and let loose. This rifle is still being used in the same way
It is very happy with its new owner as I am too, we are both happy
