If I change out the stock 3 dot sights on my M&P with truglo type sights does it DQ the current SSP I shoot in IDPA? You can get the pro model with glo pin sights ...so I am wondering if anyone has experience with this..

No.

From page 20 of the rule book, "1. Sights may be changed to another conventional notch and post type (see- "sights" in glossary for further information.
Page 81
"Sights: Only conventional notch and post type sights are permitted for IDPA competition. Sights may include tritium inserts, fiber optic inserts, white dots etc."

On the page there are two examples illustrated.

The Tru Glo are fine.

Take care

Bob

If you are going to change sights to fiber optic you may want to consider just changing the front sight and leave the rear sight in place.

When I put fiber optics on my M&P's I changed out the front only and then blacked out the dots on the rear.

I have found that during competition I don't have time to line up 3 dots and the rear dots seem to be more of a distraction than anything else.

It worked for me and was a little cheaper way to go.

Good luck.

I'd do what John says 1TopGun. Alot of guys have swapped out the front sight to F/O. I am thinking I might do it too. But I am still on the fence.

Good advice John. I went with the HI-Viz and really like the FO green front sight, some prefer red.

I did what John did and left the rear alone and just blacked out the two dots.

Fibre optic it is...

Thanks for your input gentlemen.........thats what I was looking for ..Being a cheap bastard as well and eyesight also getting it first test of age ....I agree green front post and I will black out the rear sights. What kind of paint have you used to black out sights....Im wondering if many of them will wipe off with gun cleaner products. Also ....my M&P now has a bright stainless slide ...When I used to shoot IPSC I used a product called "sight Black" in a spray can that wiped off after use...any one know if it can be had still , where?? Thanks again :D:Dguys. As usual always positive tips on solving problems or making firearm decisions that come with a $$ saving tip...

I put on a Hi Viz red FO on my M&P last week and I sure like it. I got it from Brownells in about 1o days.
(and I am not a cheap bast... I am just thrifty.)

I just used a black Jiffy paint marker. Lasted a long time and easy to touch up and besides it is a .......ummm...fiscally responsible alternative :)
