Does everybody run and hide behind the pickup when a Ross rifle is pulled out?

That my fellow milsurp gunnut is...an extremely well crafted thought on the whole topic.
The other day I had it explained to me ( by an intelligent individual no less ) about how 'the LE killed lots of guys because the bolt would pop up upon firing and fly back into the shooters face'

I've actually learned that awesome deals can be had on LE's and Ross'es from folks like this.
I once traded an SKS for 2 LE + 200$. Sold the LE's for 250 & 300$. That makes for a 750 $ SKS...thanks for the deal milsurp expert.

That's my favorite part about Ross rifles, theyre so cheap that they might as well be free. At the last dauphin show I stumbled across a real nice Ross set up like a proper target rifle. It has a globe front sight, and a nice aperture setup on the rear. It's wood was tastefully cut back and the barrel cut down 4" with a real nice crown cut in. My brother bought that rifle for $250. The guy who bad it apparently had it for sale for like 4 years but nobody wanted it. That gun will outshoot anything else in my brothers collection and is nowhere near his most expensive gun.

My Ross was bought last year at a gun show. I paid $150 which was the asking price. Mine has chopped wood and a full length barrel. I regularily shoot 1.25" groups at 100 yards with that gun and the funny thing is that the guy who had it for sale never shot it cause well it was a Ross after all.

I plan to do a comparison test this summer when time permits. I plan to shoot my Ross against my longbramch A.G Parker built target rifle. Might I add that my LB target rifle has a ball burnished barrel, PH5C sight and was built by one of the finest rifle builders of the day, not to mention that my longbranch was built a full 30 years after my Ross.

I guess the interesting thing about the Ross to me is how does a stock rifle made 100 years ago shoot so well. I've never done anything to that Ross except oil the stock and shoot the hell out of it.

It should be an interesting match and honestly I'm not sure which gun will win as they are both fine rifles and both are better shooters then me. I suspect that my A.G. PARKER may beat the Ross by a hair but really it better someone paid a lot of money many decades ago to have that rifle built.
