Like the title says does Imperial or IVI still make commercial ammo or is it all millitary contracts now?
If they still so where have you seen it for sale?

IVI got the Imperial brand name when they got it from CIL in 1965. Used it until 1988. IVI is no longer owned by Canadians either. Owned by General Dynamics, now. No commercial ammo. GD owns Diamaco, Canadair and the plant, here in London, that made(s) the LAV 25 and Strykers too. Canada's defense industry was sold out by the Socialist F**ks.

Yeah I figured as much, I heard that IVI/Imperial is actually owned by Olin, which owns Winchester ammo. But Canadair is owned by Bombardier. Diemaco is now Colt Canada and I can't find out if GD has anything to do with Colt. Yeah Canada has been sold out but don't feel so bad the alot of the american defense companies belong to BAe systems which is a British company.

Ganderite, you are my newest known hero, I love those Sabre Tips!

I have a box and a half of those left for my 30-30, they are great bullets, many one shot kills with them into mulies and one moose.

Cheers, Bob

Ganderite, you the man!! Is it possible to get sabre tip bullets anywhere even for reloading? What can you tell us about them? Were they fairly thin jackets like the ballistic tip? What went into the design?

From time to time I have seen some of the military Imperial .22 ammunition for sale. Not sure were it comes from but assume it is surplus.

Like BrimmerBob I too woild like to hear more about the Sabre Tip bulllet. Also any other information/stories of the old Dominion Cartridge/C-I-L/I-V-I Company.

Do not forget the big sell out by John D. and the Tories when they shut down the Avro Arrow program. They all seem pretty good at selling out.

IVI was bought by SNC-Lavallin after a long strike the retail arm of the business was closed down and they only sold to Government or Police Agencies. SNC TECHNOLOGIES INC. (Old IVI) was recently sold to General Dynamics, the new owner has no plans to get back into Retail Sales.

Sabre Tips, One of the Greatest bullets ever made. I used nothing but 30-40 years ago. Now it's hand loading with the ballistic Tip. Still works Great :)

Thanks for the update,JP.Very interesting to know that bit of company history.

canadair is still bombardier but DSD(defensive systems division) in mirabel quebec(cf-18 maintenance) was sold to L3 communications(they own elcan i think) by bombardier. the recreational products division (canam, skidoo, seadoo) is now "BRP" (bombardier recreational products)they sold the company to the actual bombardier/beaudoin family.

loads and loads of it. from shotgun to obsolete and everything in between. sorry troops, all for collection value, none for sale, none for trade. nice stuff to shoot tho, i was recently shooting 32 remington.
