I was casually chatting with the guys at the local gun store and one of the sales representatives mentioned only Vortex Canada has a true hasslefree comprehensive life time warranty.

This particular individual claimed it is almost impossible to get hassle free warranty work done by Korth and they "do not cover stupidity" unlike their American counterpart who basically replaces or fixes anything that is faulty. In short, if the scope hits something hard and no longer functions, you'll have to buy a new one because you were clearly stupid and careless.

Anyone want to share their experiences dealing with Korth?

Maybe it was the Vortex Bucks doing all the talking :p (For those who are unaware, industry personale receive Vortex credit for every product they sell to use with their 50% discount)

I have good luck with Korth repairing a Leupold scope of mine that had an issue but it was a problem with the scope not something I had done to it.

Korth and US Leupold are not the same company for sure ... they didnt fix few in Canada that the real one in USA fixed for free ... and nothing stupid done ...

I posted this in a other thread somewhere here about my experience with leupold, in short... I destroyed a scope totally my fault, I sent it in and they had it back to me in 2 weeks all fixed up looking pretty much new again and all it cost me was the shipping to get it to them.

Care to elaborate? I'm thinking about switching my 3gun and hunting optics to leupold because of the quality and most importantly the warranty process.

What exactly happened if you don't mind me asking.

The only time they returned a scope without repairing it for me was because it was a very early model they couldn't get parts for. Other than that, never a complaint.

Don't they normally swap the scope with something in similar class if it's unrepairable or unserviceable?

Had an older vari x iii 6.5-20x40 with moisture problems. it took 4 months but I received a vx3i 6.5-20x40 in 30mm as a replacement. Korth said the delay was all due to the US head office. Very happy with the replacement

I had a 30+ year old Vari-X iii 6.5 -20 x 40 with the tall target turrets which had been custom installed by Leupold mounted on a Savage LRPV. Well one day (first time in my life)
I dropped the gun getting out of the truck and it landed upside down right on the scope. Tube looked okay(not bent) but had some marks. Glass & reticle looked fine. Immediately found a spot to test it and it shot 6 feet low and 10 feet right. Sent it in to Korth with the story and in 12 days got a package (postage pre-paid). Brand new VX 3 6.5 -20 x 40 c/w custom installed tall target turrets and a note that said "Hope this is satisfactory". Obviously I buy Leupolds.

I exclusively use Leupold now, I've tried all the others and just enjoy using the Leupold product.
I have never had an issue with any of my Leupold scopes that required me to send it to Korth, so I can't comment on dealing with them.

That said, I will never support any vendor (Vortex for example) that openly advertises they will "warranty" blatant stupidity...... because IMO that just encourages stupidity, and furthers the race to the bottom.

If a company (at their discretion) decides to help a customer out because of some accidental damage that was not the mfg's fault, then that's good customer service. Why a company rep would say "ran it over with a truck?.. we'll send you a new one!" Is beyond me.

Nothing but good things to say about Korth.
Sounds like the OP was talking with someone who was selling Vortex.
I am partial to Leupold and thus would buy .
but, if there was something that was needed and Vortex fit the bill then I would buy it too, based on price point and price point alone.
I aint putting a Leupold on a Cooey.

So, for an experience I had a 10X scope that needed some attention, sent to Korth and returned in under two weeks with new o rings, recalibrated , recharged and given a good to go for the sum of 0 dollars...yup just the ride there no fuss no mess.

Recently bought a Leupold 600 yrd range finder and found it didnt have a lanyard, sent an email to Korth and 10 days later one arrived in the mail.

But, if one can not afford Leupold , hey there is always Vortex and Sun Optics even.

I sent a scope to korth a couple of years ago for fixing and got charged for the repair.
User abuse because they figure the rings were applied too tight.
I use 15-20# applied with a Wheeler torque wrench to tighten scope ring screws and 25-30# for the base screws.
