Does Nobody Want Keltec RFB's Anymore??????

Honestly, I don’t have much of an opinion on the RFB, but I read this whole thread and noticed something… the people who don’t like them don’t own them and the people that do like them tend to own them… I would never expect someone to buy one if they didn’t like it… so, I guess it is for some people but not for all…

I think the novelty of their product is slowly wearing off....
Good designs, practical for some purposes; but quite frankly for what your paying for - there is much more
out there that has a proven track record and user following.

what is out there that is so much more that is a .308 semi auto NR ?

The fact it is NR make it a must have even if it is at best a 1.5 MOA rifle, perfectly acceptable in my book for that kind of rifle... JP.

2MOA is pretty good to begin with. I'm sure with the right ammo and a good setup it could do around 1MOA. But really 2MOA is fine for bush hunting.

People who love it, use it to hunt. People who don't like it, want a sub-MOA gun for that money.

In the end, there are not many bullpup 7.62nato non-restricted rifles in Canada. Take it or leave it.

Kel-Tec doesn't make any serious use weapon, and I'm just not a hobby gun guy, so no I don't have any interest in this.

Got a reality check this week by getting a S-2000, those are even if plastic is omnipresent a lot better rifles than peoples give them credit for, now i now... JP.

As another poster mentioned the Israelis are looking at complementing their Tavor rifles with 308 RFB rifles.

The action of the RFB is essentially a modern tilting block piston design. So think SVT40, FN FAL, CZ858 etc. There's nothing untried there.

I generally avoid Kel-tec like the plague due to it's cheap product reputation but the RFB is s decent firearm. Worth $2500? Probably not but then again most firearms aren't worth what they're selling for these days. The polymer would need to be upgraded for a military rifle along with only a couple gas settings.

One more mention on accuracy. The accuracy is currently limited by the CL barrel. Build them with a match grade barrel and accuracy would improve.

Suptin, the Kel-tec RFB is proof against your hater theories for other products you seem to support. I'm not a kel-tec fan but the RFB is different. If people like myself were true haters we wouldn't own a RFB. So think about that next time you try to use that lame argument whith other products. Plus there is no justification for owners. They could easily sell the RFB if they don't like it. No need to hold onto one if it's not to your liking.

By the way I still own my Gen 1 RFB.

I own a gen 2 and will never sell it.
It is a 1.5moa shooter with most ammo and has been 100% reliable once the gas system is set up. The failures I've had so far were all due to improper setting of the gas system.
It was never designed to be a precision rifle so I really don't know where people get off saying it's a pos just because it doesn't shoot sub moa. $2500 is not a lot of money for a non restricted semi auto 308 rifle that will outshoot a stock m14. I wanted a precision rifle so I spent $7000 on a DTA SRS in 338. I bought the RFB for a fun non restricted bullpup to hunt with and blast away with at the range. Nothing beats it in the bush, when I sling it across my back on the quad there is no barrel hanging out to catch on trees and when walking through the bush it is so easy to keep it from catching on branches.
Accuracy is comparable to the xcr-m and it's the same price so why isn't anyone b!tch!ng about how expensive that one is?
Plastic? What black rifle these days doesn't have plastic? If any of the whiners looking for an excuse to hate the RFB had actually ever stripped one they would know that all the important stuff is quality steel and that it is built very well.

If you don't like them don't buy one but just because it doesn't do something it was never built to do doesn't make it a pos.
I don't regret my purchase one bit.

Yes, that was MY theory. I created and posted that entire page on Wikipedia including all the sources and references made up out of thin air. As such everything on that page can be safely ignored in order to protect fragile egos.

I don't "hate" the RFB I just think it offers crap performance at a premium price. I "hate" the SKS but at least it is ####e performance at a six pack price and in a paper bag packaging. That is more honest IMO.

I am amused at all the fussing over my opinion though. ;)

Keltec has made both gems and turds, the ideas are generally solid, the execution has been hit and miss with a lot more hits lately. They're not a century old name in the business like Colt or FN, but they're working on it. They're coming out with incredibly innovative American-made products, perhaps the most innovative successful products as of late and doing a damn good job of it. I am unabashedly stodgy and old school in firearms, I still like walnut and steel, and I tested the KSG and was very, very impressed. I was offered an RFB to test by the same fellow and turned it down politely due to lack of time, perhaps I should make time.

Found the same when testing the KSG, went in thinking it was a plastic gun, it's a fully metal gun simply in a plastic stock, same as any other "normal" synthetic stocked gun of more conventional appearance; AR15, Rem 870 Marine, etc.

I wanted one bad until I saw the price of ammo , sticking with 223

Beautiful little rifle in my opinion, as far as CQB ... Hate to be on the business end of that deal
