Does Norinco Make Revolvers?

What I would really like to see Norinco export here is the Chinese Type 80 -- a modern version of the old Mauser C96 "Broomhandle" that shoots hot 7.62x25 mm Tokarev ammunition. :sniper:

My original Colt 1911a1 is 66 yrs old and shoots & looks as good as the day it was made
See what your norc 1911 looks like in the yr 2074

That isn't a 70's or 80's Colt!

I'm willing to bet that a Norinco 1911 will look about as good in 70 years as a GI 1911 looks today. They may not be terribly pretty (with the exception of the new two tones) but they are built stout.

Over a year ago I was corresponding with an exec at Norinco (he even sent me a neat Xmas calendar for my desk with photos of tanks and rocket launchers for each month). He was interested in the tastes of Canadian shooters and what we thought of various Chinese guns. I asked about the revolver (the one designed for N American use in 38/357) and he said they had trials with it but it presented a few problems. It sounded to me like it was dead in the water.

I'm sure we will. Norc 1911's are well thought of in the united states, home of the 1911, now bluebook for hundreds more than when they were sold(look it up), has a forged slide and is durable and solid.

We canadians have alot more prejudice towards this firearm here and it's all about the price point, and nothing else.

Maybe the fact that norc's flood the market up here & are band in the US would have something to do with the price . Any pre-ban norcs in the US sell for more just because they cant get any more .Not because of the quality

Well, something like the Norinco 1911A1, it is a knock-off. Since the patent has expired long time ago, it is a legal knock-off. There are many knock-offs in the market and the Norinco is just one of them.

Why do some people still refuse to accept the fact that some knock-offs could be made at the same or even higher quality than the original product?

It is completely different from comparing 2 brands of cars, because different cars are, well, different. But knock off guns could be exactly the same, or better, than the original gun.

I think it's funny that the site that hosts this image sells knives like this: http://candcknives.com/Hibben%20Knive%20Fantasy%20Knives.htm

and optics like this:

But hey, if the Dungeons and Dragons kids and the airsofters think that Norinco is crap who are we to argue?

You don't find images like that on Strider's website or EOTech's website.

Please keep this from turning into a Norinco bashing thread! If you don't have anything to add to the conversation about Norinco revolvers take it elsewhere.

A 1911 clone is like a modern copy of a Cobra 427. Not the Mustang, the British two seater with a big V8 crammed in. There are lots of manufacturers (ranging from terrible to excellent) now making versions of this ferociously powerful sports car. Even today, half a century after the Carroll Shelby made the first, just looking at one is enough to make the blood pound in one's veins.

But even Cobras' most ardent admirers have to admit that they are old-fashioned and unsophisticated. Modern designs get far more performance out of far less power and do it with far greater control, safety, and comfort. Pretty much the same applies to modern gun designs versus 1911 clones.

I like unsophisticated! Screw safety, I want to hear that WOT 427 at 7000 rpm in fourth while I crap my pants & cook lunch on the open pipes at the same time. Better yet, let me put on an original gt40. It might take me 30 minutes to shoe horn myself in there, but what a ride.

StarPuss is right.

Corresponding with Norinco eh? What Chi-com Officer did you talk to, and does the Central Committee know you are a Chi-com lover?
It's bad enough that we allow the import of this reverse engineered Chi-com junk, and you want the RED Communist Chi-com Army to make a revolver too?
Chi-com reverse-engineered so-called Colt 1911's will never, ever be better than a rotten, loose, parkerized, crappy sighted Colt 1911. Ever.
Supporting the Red Chinese Army gun manufacturing company that could never, ever come up with a design of their own, only gets them closer to the aircraft carrier they wish to threaten the West with.
Support the Chi-coms at our own peril!
