So I was browsing around looking at lever guns and noticed nobody carries Rossi anymore. Are they still around? Out of business? Nobody importing? What's the deal?

They're still around but I bet the Canadian market had gotten a bit tighter with new offereings from Henry, Marlin and even Mossberg. Even Uberti and Chiappa is trying to break into the lever market. It seems that the Rossi importers/dealer have changed dirrection a bit because I see those cheap Rossi .22s being sold everywhere, you know the ones that some times comes with a .410 interchangable barrel but not always and the retailer tries to sell a single barrel setup for the price of two. I have a couple of CT stores in my area that is doing that... why!?!

How long would it have taken to type "Rossi Firearms" into the Google search window?

Cool. Now read the rest of the questions I asked. In the post, not just the thread title.

Thanks for the replies guys. Does anyone know who was importing and why they stopped? I don't know that competition alone would do it as they were in a lower price bracket generally than others levers.

Googled Rossi Canada and found prophet river has two 44 m92 in stock. When I bought one back in 2012? I remember seeing them at a few shops around, but now that you mention it I can’t say when I’ve seen one one the shelf last

When I called up Rossi in Brazil and their US distributor (in Florida i believe it was) about a year ago I was told they were so far behind in orders they were trying to catch up. It seems they were in more demand than the American made models. Wolverine and Prophet River use to sell them regularly.

Well they were significantly cheaper and honestly well built mechanically. For a utilitarian lever they are hard to beat IMHO. I appreciate the information as that clears up our lack of them more or less. Drop the little customers and serve the big ones.

Would love to see more Chiappa/Rossi and Uberti options, especially if they could do a mechanically sound stainless PG 44mag, 35rem options that were very affordable. The miroku levers have the high end fancy stuff pretty well covered at the other end.

Hey, I have a youth model with interchangeable barrels. That gun has been abused and it is still going strong! lol

If the humidity is about 50%, don't take any chances, oil it up when you get home. The blueing is that thin. But a great little rifle for grouse. My son has started using it to learn to shoot as well.

I have a 92 Puma Rossi that I really like. What I don't see much anymore are the ranch hands. For awhile we were tripping over them, then like the K car, they were gone.

With the Virus running amok in Brazil and Italy in a slow recover mode. I don't expect to see a lot of selection anytime soon.
