Does Savage Canada (Lakefield I guess) have a parts dept? I've been trying to get parts for a Savage 42 combo gun with no luck. I can't find any reference to a dept online except in the US and I don't know if they will ship to Canada. Anyone ever order parts directly from savage?

Gretch Outdoors is their warranty center isn't it? Maybe they can get you parts? Or maybe contact whoever is the Canadian distributor?

I would agree with blastattack and call them directly first and see where that takes you, then try the other options.

A few years ago I called them (Savage in Lakefield, ON) and spoke to someone in the production department - and asked if they could make me a rimfire rifle set-up a certain way. They would make the rifle if I find 100 other orders for the same configuration. This was - even though they had all the parts to assemble the rifle set-up I wanted. The likely hood of me chasing down 100 orders for a specific set-up was what I thought was unreasonable on their part. Since then I have sorta stayed away from them as there are other options out there in rimfires to choose from.

That's a ridiculous story. Do you call up the auto manufacturers and demand they build you a custom special car just because they have all the parts lying around? It's unreasonable to expect them to comply with your requests because they are a factory that makes a certain set of products, not a custom shop building one-offs.

I agree. The fact they said they'd make it with 100 orders isn't bad at all, I would have expected them to say we're a production facility we don't do special orders (aka go pound sand)...

I got replacement parts for my Mk II FVSR (extractor and C clip) direct from Savage in less than 2 weeks.

Savage Canada: (705) 652-8000 ext. 5101

Thanks! I'll call them up Monday morning. I was just wondering if anyone had gotten parts before so I'm not wasting my time.

I called them a few years ago looking for a part for my 111, they couldn't help me since they only make the rimfires, which I expected the answer to be. I had already contacted the list of businesses that listed to be Savage parts suppliers and was unable to get a hold of anyone. Savage Canada told me to call Savage US, so I did. Within 5 minutes they had the part I needed and told me it would be in the mail by the end of the next day. No charge. It was only an Accu-Wedge, probably a .05c piece. You will probably have to deal with the US side, (800) 370-0708.

Yea, the 42 isn't made here so they probably don't have parts for it.

This is a story I probably would've kept to myself.
