Does such a bottom metal exist??

Tried googling/searching but coming up empty so far.

I am finally going to build my first custom precision rifle and because of the action I am using, it offers a lot of flexibility (ie: savage barrel threads and changeable bolt face). I always wanted one rifle with multi caliber capabilities.

I am going with a long action in a McMillan A5 and my first barrel is probably going to be chambered for the .284 win. Also the mags coming with this will be the long 3.850 OAL mags. But lets say one day I want to shoot something like a 6mm CM, or even .223 or something short like that. Is there a bottom metal that would fit the long action screws of the stock/action but fit short action caliber mags for better feeding/alignment? Or some adapter/spacer to accomplish this?

thanks

Perhaps the Accuracy International AXMC magazine adapter could be modified to fit and work with whatever AICS/AW compatible long action bottom metal you decide upon?Screenshot_20180419-002451.jpg

Marcoman is right that if you were smart enough you could get that to work. Assuming your action has an AW mag cut.

Except that you won't be able to run 223 our of it. Those mag wells are for AW/AX magazine and they do not make those mags for 223.

Your best bet is just to use the standard LA bottom metal (M5 style) and then have magazines that have been adjusted for each cartridge, you will have lots of space to push the bullets out there. Don't think you will be able to get a 223 out of a long action though.

Thanks guys.

And sounds good Jerry...good to hear. I was actually just emailing with you the other day regarding barrels. (carbon fiber vs steel). So I will touch base with you over this subject via email if that is better.
