Does the .30-06 pack enough punch to take down a Chevrotain?

Standing up to 40cm tall at the shoulder, these vicious beasts are one of the most fearsome herbivores on the planet. Some even have fangs - much like a boar or saber-toothed tiger.

Is the .30-06 capable of generating sufficient hydrostatic shock to produce remote neural damage and pressure wave effects in its peripheral nerves? Or is the step up to a 7mm RUM or .338 Win Mag necessary?

I dropped one running at 500 yrds using a m94 in 30-30 so I think the 30-06 would work ,as always shot placement is the key.

Wouldn't use anything other than a TSX, but otherwise i'd feel moderatly comfortable. Although my buddy back in Vietnam got mauled pretty bad by one while we were on patrol, pretty scary. Well it might have been a Saskamabush, and not a Chevrotain as he claimed, but you'd never convince him of that.
