I just called the 1-800-731-4000 number and they wouldn't put me through to the CFO but just said that the CFO office has my licence application in their hands in surrey for review.

Is there a number or extension I can use to contact the BC CFO directly?

cheers,

here is a number I found online...not sure if it is still good:

British Columbia
Chief Firearms Officer
Suite 400, 10470 152 Street
Surrey, BC V3R 0Y3
Tel: (604) 586-2562
Fax: (604) 586-2402

I just tried the (604) 586-2562 number and that doesn't connect at all

the 1-778-571-3400 just told me they were closed despite that it is 2:30pm here in Vancouver and they list their business hours as Mon-Fri 8:30-4:30.

I found an extension of 9530 for the CFC toll free number that I am now trying and on hold for. It may be the extension for BC CFO.

Any other ideas?

extension 9530 got me through to BC CFO. All they were able to tell is that the BC CFO office is very behind and that they have hired new staff to help catch up but that it may just take some time for my review.

Looks like a waiting game at this point now.

That number has said that for 2 weeks. This has gotten beyond stupid, I cant get a statt and my sig transfer has taken 2 weeks now. Fire them now!

x2!! I tried the 1800 731 4000 ext 9530 and an automated answering system came on the line to tell me they are receiving higher than normal call volume and cannot complete my call...the 778 number just says they are closed. WTF??

Perhaps if all of you who are having difficulties called the local MP and MPP, you might get some action???

If nothing else, they would be alerted as to how badly law abiding owners are being treated by this government organization.

Something like this directed to the MP?

Dear Mr. ###XX,

I would like to thank you and the Conservative Party of Canada for the effort that was put into the dissolution of the Long-gun registry, and further efforts that are being put into restoring civil rights to firearms owners. I have, along with my family, voted Conservative in all elections, and will continue to do so while the party protects the rights of their citizens in all regards.

I am a local sporting enthusiast who has recently purchased a restricted collector's firearm from a retail store. After the firearm was purchased, the retailer informed me that the office of the British Columbia CFO is experiencing extended turn-around time for firearms transfers and and Authorization to Transport documentation. It dismays me that two weeks have now elapsed and my paper work has yet to be processed where in other provinces, standard turn around time is less than one working week. Further to this, I have not been able to contact anyone in the BC CFO's office to enquire as to the status of the transfer as the phone lines are immediately directed to an automated recording stating "We apologize for not being able to answer your call. We are experiencing a higher than normal call volume..." regardless of the time of day the call has been made and with no option to leave a message. I have tried to contact the BC CFO's office both through the 1-800-731-4000 number, as well as their local number (which has been reassigned and a new number issed which also goes to an automated recording stating "Thank you for calling the Chief Firearms Office for BC and Yukon. Our office is presently closed. Our regular business hours are from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with the exception of some statuatory holidays when we are closed.") regardless of the time of day the call has been made, and also without an option to leave a message.

I am concerned that the BC CFO is unable to effectively service the typical volume of transfers and registrations despite a large volume of work being eliminated through the dispertion of the long gun registry. It also concerns me that this publicly funded government agency is not servicing the public in any manner of speaking, by essentially turning their phones off.

If your office would be able to extend any assistance relating to the issue at hand that myself, and possibly thousands of other firearms owners are struggling with, it would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Very nice. If 40 or 50 guys from BC sent some form of that message to the same minister, you can be sure that some action would be taken.

We pay the wages of these people, we deserve service for our money.

This will be interesting...I just did a transfer from BC --> Sask. which was approved in less than a day. And today I phoned in my part for another transfer, this one ON --> BC. I've never gone more than 5 days...let's see how long this one takes. I'll update this post when I hear...

now done (Sept. 17th)...9 business days...a new record :jerkit:

I got through to 1800 731 4000 ext 9530 yesterday. Did have to spend about 20 minutes on hold, but then the lady was able to update my LTATT right away (was adding a 2nd address).
