Does this Belong In A Bolt Action Rifle?

In Canada it makes more sense to have a .357 Magnum in a rifle rather than a handgun. More power than you need at the range and you can't use a handgun anywhere else.

I have one of these rugers, well two of them one in 357 and one in 44mag. The 357 is my go to, it’s the rifle I shoot the most and kill the most game with. It is in my mind the perfect rifle. There is not a day on my farm I am not in arms reach of it.

I had a .357 Mag Rossi lever action. How is it any different in a lever than a bolt action? Let's not forget the .30 M1 Carbine is based on a post WW1 Winchester self-loading rifle cartridge.

Only if the bolt throw is less than 2". I want the action scaled for the round it fires.
I'd want a even small bolt throw if it was 9mm. It should be a like a bolt action 22 but for 9mm
I like that idea as well.
Lever 357's are plentiful, not sure a bolt would be much of an improvement, the Rugers are like $2K built on what looks like a long action lol.
I have a cheap single shot Traditions G2, it's quite accurate, even with 357Mag it's quiet enough I don't wear ears. With 38spl it's even quieter.
I want to load some 38S&W sized in the same sizer with 125's, would be a mouse fart load like a 22 short lol

Love the idea.

Not much of a lever guy here, especially is they get more big loopy etc. But the ergos of a bolt gun, especially for optics mounting, are just better for me personally.

Relatively cheap to shoot and reload for. Cabide dies mean skipping a step too ;)

Wiki says, "The .30 carbine cartridge [[ 7.62 x 33 ]] was developed by Winchester and is basically a rimless .30 caliber (7.62 mm) version of the much older .32 Winchester Self-Loading cartridge [[ 8.2 x 31 ]]of 1906 introduced for the Winchester Model 1905 rifle." The .357 Magnum is approx 9 x 33. Arguably the three are peers.

The difference is. A bolt action like this is so much easyer for me. I am on quads in my truck, 2-3 tractors, mini excavator you name it if I had to unload a tube mag on a leaver action every time I got in a pice of equipment I wouldn’t bring the rifle. The removable mag is why I choose this bolt action.
