Does Winchester make a Model 70 in 223 Rem?

I have a M70 XTR Varmint in 223 with a tiger maple stock, its a beauty.
I had to search the EE relentlessly for 6 years and only ever came across 3 of them, 2 of them sold within minutes of being posted and I jumped on the one I ended up with in BNIB condition.
There isn't many out there, and they don't pop up often.

It appears a few big manufacturers have quietly dropped thier smaller centerfire varmint chamberings.
Same a Browning dropped the Hornet with introduction of the newer X bolt. It also appears they don't manufacture the 1885 anymore as well.

I missed that ending until just now.

Kimber makes the 84M, a CRF with Winchester style 3 position safety, in .223 Remington.

IMO this is an excellent rifle.

Those are nice rifles. Shoots 70 gr bullets with a 9 twist really well. The trigger shoe was excessively curved so I had it straightened a bit

Back in the late 1990’s, I owned a Coyote Winnie Model 70 in .223. It loved the 75 grain Amax booolit out to 800 meters. My son shot this rifle in PR and SR matches with the ORA on Mons Range Base Borden, ON. All great times.

In 2004, I took it out to YYC for a gopher shoot around the Airdrie area and that was a pile of fun. It was an “inside a MOA” shooter and a dream to knock off gophers and groundhogs. What a great shooter.

Life is good! Be strong and be safe out there!

Cheers, Barney

Nothing in current production, but most of the previous models have been mentioned. If you want a heavy barrel, there was also the Heavy Barrel Varmint or the Stealth....both push feed and great rifles, but hard to find.
