Hello Group
I know of some people who got a farm
so they can keep horses. The owner of the farm (city slicker)
thought it would be nice to have some rabbits
around. Trouble is, they are now out of control (population)

There are way too many Rabbits running around wild.
We have been asked to shoot them, but truthfully
there are way to many to get them under control.
Is there a easier way to catch them.
Any suggestions and experience
is very much appreciated.
Cheers

You can trap or snare them but the first thing I would do if the area has any trees is set up a tree stand just like for deer hunting. I have watched rabbits from my stand so many times I started rabbit hunting from there. With a good scoped .22 you will get a LOT of rabbits this way. If you can sit still up there they will go about their rabbit business unaware of you. Bring some good low power (6x) binoculars so you can examine every leaf and twig of the surrounding forest floor. You will find them!

Introduce coyotes, if not feasible a good gun dog or two that have an appreciation of a good chase. The rabbits won't last long.

Hmm... we don't have cattle at the ranch anymore. Get a couple free rabbits from neighbors, accidentally leave cages open, profit the year after? :D

Shoot me a PM, I'm local. :D would love to get some more rabbits for the pot without having to walk around for hours to get them.
