If I were to consider 7.62x39 for hunting I would invest in a couple boxes of good hunting ammo. Just because it's got a HP doesn't mean it'll work properly on game, I mean, it'll kill it, but how quickly is the question. I suspect these bullets aren't of the "hunting" construction. They are quite accurate out of my SKS, for whatever that's worth. I know Hornady makes some with their SST bullets, and I'm sure I've seen another brand that I just can't think of at the moment.

For deer, coyote, wild hogs ... it matters far more where you put the bullet than whether CanAm's HP is a quality hollow-point or not. Yes, if you shoot one into a pail of sand it'll blow up (my speculation is that the jackets are a little thinner than premium component bullets), but I'm guessing it'll still hammer through a rib and soft tissue would be no problem at all. If you have a gun that can shoot 2-3moa and you do your part (stalk or stand at a distance commensurate with your gun and your skill), a crate of HP is just about a lifetime supply of deer ammo. At something like 25 cents a deer! ;-)
