Hi,

I was wondering if there is any major difference with the 2 guns. Is the finish better on the Norinco? Will the Norinco barrel fit a Rem? Are there dimples on the Norinco like Remington?

I just received my Grizzly 870 Mag feed shotgun today. I was really surprised at how well made it is. I would say its right on bar with my friends 870 but I'll tell you when I get back from the range tomorrow.

I've had a police model 870 and it was what I expected from it............. I just ordered a grizzly a week or so ago and will definetly post a thorough evaluation of the 2.

The Norinco has a metal trigger group instead of plastic. On any of the Norinco 870 clones I've seen, the finish was no worse, and maybe a bit better, than the 870 Express.

A Wingmaster or Police model may have the Norinco beat, but not an Express.

ive had my 12" grizzly for almost a year now. It has been shot just about every week. I havent cleaned it yet, just a wipedown on the outside with some gun oil when i get back from shooting. I have had zero problems. Patterns quite well out to 40 yards with lead and steel shot. I was sure the finish wouldnt hold up at all, but it surpassed my expectations. It still isnt a great finish, but it does the job.

I own a bunch of each - DA, Norinco, 870 Express, 870 Tactical and 870 Police.

I would rate the DA equal to the Express in finish, and slightly better overall because of the trigger group (metal vs. plastic - no issues with plastic, just personal preference). The 870P has both beat, but that's to be expected.

I've owned over 6 Norincos in the past and had ZERO issues with any of them. The SA Grizzly is made in one of the Norinco factories.

Does the Grizzly have mag dimples or detent ball for the magazine tube? How are the barrels?

Yes - it has dimples. The only new ones that don't have dimples are the Police and the Tactical (and the express with the extension).

Barrel on a DA is the same as the norinco. Nothing special, and a little too thin to tap for chokes. Okay, it can be done, but there is not much meat left afterward! Cylinder bore gets a little old for me...

I've experienced two bunk triggers from the China made guns... the finish is much better though. A trigger upgrade (ala Remington) is necessary based on my experiences.

I have found that some aftermarket parts are a very tight fit on my dominion.

I have a FAB tactical 870 foregrip (which I heard were normally a tight fit on remington) but on the dominion it was a horribly long battle to install it over the Chinese tube. In the end the bubba tools came out (dremel + hammer) and I MADE it fit. I suffered from "bubba guilt" afterwards.

I also noticed that the Chinese shell lifter has no "Flexi-tab".

How are the internals? Are there burrs? Is the steel the same quality as Rem? Ghost ring sights? Is the finish the same as the express or is it blued or parkerized? How are the sling plates? Are they mil-spec 1 1/4"?

Handle both side by side. The Norinco is surprisingly good. However, it is HEAVY. Pick up the 870 then the Norinco. You'll notice a huge difference in weight. Also the gold bead on the Norinco is a nice touch.

I'm surprised the usual Norc bashers haven't showed up yet in this thread.

I'm sure they will be out in force soon though. They're a dedicated lot.

The Dominions are good guns for the money. Don't hesitate to buy one.
