dominion arms backpacker short review

chinese s##t

I can't share the joy or even say "I told you so." I take no pleasure that owners are experiencing forends that don't stay attached, rough chambers, guns that won't ####, poorly-regulated barrels, high POI, bruised fingers and preservative oil with a faint whiff of "shyte." And this is from light use and test firing. We'll see what happens when the round count gets to a few hundred.

From the beginning several posters here including me have tried to point out some facts about these guns. In return we've been called gun snobs, elitists, Fudds and, in my case, accused of racism of by one pasty-faced little arsewipe who enjoys the honour of being the very first person on my ignore list.

So where are the defenders of all things Chinese? So very quiet now aren't we lads and rightfully so. Your gushing about these guns caused people here to buy them and now that they are having trouble you don't seem to have much to say.

FWIW, if one member here paused before buying one of these POS guns, let someone else have the initial "experience" and has decided to buy something else then it was worth the trouble (and the infraction.) :)
Im with ya brother !

I see the practical side of firearms and a single shot break action isn't practical and serves no purpose,
There is a skunk 10 feet outside my back door at night. As soon as I shoot it, I will hold the light empty gun in one hand as I slam the door with the other. Get it now?

OK, a few months on and not as many trips to the range as I would like:

The forearm issue seems to be resolved - doesn't come loose anymore. However, here's a new one. For the first few rounds each time out, the Backpacker is fine. However, the last three range outings, after anywhere from 3-5 shots, I get a click instead of a bang. A light primer strike is visible. Sometimes if I leave it to one side for a while, it'll fire again for a bit. So I'm guessing this has something to do with either the gun heating up or the recoil putting something very slightly out of whack? Anybody else experienced this or have any best guesses?

Sorry for a practical post in the middle of the usual bashing (yes, what did I expect for $129) but any help would be appreciated.

Yeah......had the same thing happen to my Norinco 1911; caught the whole thing on video too:D

But seriously hope you get things worked out!

I always loved that GIF. Does anyone know if that is DR. House?

I got mine for $49 instead of $149 so I couldn't really complain if the forend falls off, although it hasen't yet. For $49 i'm lucky it even fires...

Don't see the point. Why write thousands of lines of argument for a $149 gun?

Even a SKS costs 250$ now.

Seems to me you were one of the ones making so much fuss about the "outlaw". Guess it has to be a $300 gun to be any good.....

How many rounds are you up to?

I recall someone else here having light primer strikes, right out of the box and CanAM fixed him up.

Your grammar hurts my brain. Maybe it fell off because of your lack of capitalization, or punctuation. I've heard of that happening from time to time.

Most likely the guns with foreend problems just need some fine tuning...I noticed after I took mine apart for photos and then reassembled it that it was a bit loose side to side up front and so I placed a small piece of foam about 3/16" thick between the foreend and the barrel and now she's nice and snug...:)
That's nice that you were able to work around it and all, mate, but let's face it: you shouldn't need to do that...

hrm..... anyone happen to get a parts/assembly diagram with their backpacker? I didnt, and ummmm lets just say I have some springs and stuff here now that I dont know how to put back together. lol
Too... many... jokes... :p Seriously though, don't feel bad. I'm pretty sure we've all done it.

Ahem. My humble little SS, BA, 12G, old-assed Cooey has, pound for pound, put more food on my family's table than any other gun I own. That sounds like a purpose to me (and after reading some more posts, I don't think I'm alone here)...

What does this thread have to do with a gold plated AK?? :onCrack:
And we're off to see the Wizard...:weird:

Well for the price I'm not complaining if I have to tweak it to my standards....I just bought a cooey 84 and it's foreend is a little loose but for $75 bucks I'm Ok with that and it's an easy fix.

I consider all chinese guns a work in progress and actually I like it that way....
