Dominion Arms Grizzly Shotgun .....12.5" bbl.

Definitions coming out our ying yangs

"restricted firearm" means

(a) a handgun that is not a prohibited firearm,

(b) a firearm that

(i) is not a prohibited firearm,

(ii) has a barrel less than 470 mm in length, and

(iii) is capable of discharging centre-fire ammunition in a semi-automatic manner,

Whoa! I must have missed something; does shotshell count as "centre-fire ammo"? Sub-question: "does that make autoloading fowl shotties/benelli m4/m2's restricted?" Garand? Norinco 14's? Everything I want? :runaway:

Shotgun shells have the primer located in the center of the shell face the last time I looked..........hence center fire.

If a firearm is NOT a prohibited firearm AND fires center fire ammunition AND has a barrel length of less than 18.5" (470 mm) AND is capable of discharging ammunition is a semi-automatic manner it is a RESTRICTED firearm.

This definition pretains only to autoloading, self loading, semi-automatic firearms that discharge & load a single round of ammunition with each successive pull of the trigger, and to not pumps, bolt actions, or lever actions.

I had a semi-automatic .30 calibre M-1 carbine with an 18" barrel I used to hunt deer with that was reclassified as RESTRICTED when this legislation went into effect.

I could no longer take it out in the bush and sold it a week later.

Pump's are not semi auto's , they are pump action.

I have a M1 carbine with a 19" barrel & take it out & shoot it all the time

It's the career bureaucrats, not the politicians that are screwing us

19" is longer than the statutory limit of 18.5" and your firearm is non-restricted.

I think it was Bill C-17 (Brian Mulroney & Kim Campbell - CONSERVATIVE) that created this new classification of restricted rifles.

The sh!tbird anti-gun bureaucrats in the federal Department of Justice that really run the government's law & order agenda regardless of what political party is in power had the federal government create this law & make the statutory limit 18.5" to capture the tens of thousands of military surplus M-1s with 18" barrels that had flooded the Canadian market.

It's these bureaucrat azzholes who's careers span several electoral mandates that are our enemies much more than the politicians.

Yes, the CFo's believe you have created a handgun by installing the pistol grip. It is not about the length, per se. But until this sees a courtroom, we only have our interpretation of the law to go by.

If you believe a 12.5" PG shotgun is a handgun then their you have it.

The sad truth is that the CFO's have so much discretionary powers, that they can charge you for wearing boxer shorts while carrying a shotgun.

In the matter of firearms, the CFO is one notch below "God", and many of them actualy believe that they are one notch above!

In essence, the CFO can charge you with anything he pleases, and then let the courts rule on it while you of course take out a second and third mortgage on your home to defend yourself.

In our democratic system, he with the most money "wins" in a court battle.
HINT: The CFO has access to a lot more money than you or I.

One gun firendly CFO..........comin up!

I think the key to resolving this is to have a CFO who is one of us or who is a friend of gun owners.

Gun friendly CFO.......sounds good!

:DGet on the phone to Premier Dalton McGuinty or A/G Chris Bently.:D

;)I'm sure they'll get right on that!!;)

Any suggestions?

I nominate FOXER !!

how is the patterning? and finally, i have a mossberg 88 with a 20" length and full tube magazine, im wondering if the ati top folding stock will fit? what about a heat shield?

The Grizzly is a "dogs" gun

If you're the "dog" on a deer hunt in areas where real dogs aren't allowed..............one of the unfortunate SOBs who is tasked to drive the deer out of the thick stuff & toward the rest of the gang waiting in the ground blinds & tree stands it's advisable to have a short easily pointed firearm.

I've seen nothing better than the 12.5" :shotgun:Grizzly:shotgun: for the deer dogging job.

I looked at the Dlask 8.5" 870 but decided the muzzle blast from such a short barrel would pop my ear drums & remove all facial hair including my eyebrows & cause a reduction in the muzzle velocity of a rifled slug of 50%. Besides @ $850+, the Dlask is way, way too expensive despite the fact that it is built on a real Remington 870 action.

I just hope they don't go and restrict the Grizzly like they did with the 18" barrel .30 caliber M-1 I used to use for the same purpose years ago.

Nope, the semi-auto/barrel length restrictions were not introduced under the "Progressive Conservatives" but rather under the Trudeau "Liberals" in 1978/79. The Mulroney/Campbell mafia changed the rules so that barrel extensions no longer counted as part of the barrel (just one of the many ways they screwed us over).

personally, I think the 12.5" with standard stock is a hell of a fine setup, and compact enough not to bother with a pistol grip. not to mention its more versatile and functional with the standard stock.

a suitable anywhere kind of setup.

I can't imagine a better gun for brush hunting spooky deer & for use in "shotguns only" areas.

I'm not putting a pistol grip on mine.

I may consider a hogue overmolded stock kit, for improved grip... the pump handle in particular is a bit slick. I'll try tossing that in the bead blaster and see if it can be improved, if I ruin it it's a perfect excuse for the hogues :p

(the factory stock is however, pretty decent compared to most, not a bad recoil pad on it either)
