In a weak moment last week I gave into impulse and bought the Canada Ammo DA P762 deal with the 1000 rounds of Norc 7.62x25.

I've never owned a Norinco (I believe that's who makes these for CA) so I'm not too sure what to expect. I think they have only been available for a few months but was wondering if anybody has one?

I misread a post by canam:

Dominion Arms is CanadaAmmo's in-house brand and no, is not always Norinco. For some items we have had product commissioned at the Norinco factory but for example the DA 7.62x39 was manufactured in the Ukraine and our slugs and buckshot in Russia. It is our brand, our specifications, made to the best we can get it made at a reasonable and competitive price for the Canadian market. Such as our Grizzly line of shotguns are commissioned and manufactured in China, but not through Norinco.

They were talking about ammo...
The 'DA 7.62' threw me off.

I hope this isn't an omen but I was in a LGS today and the guy showed me a Norinco bolt action .22. The front sight was installed about 10 degrees to the left of vertical! He said they had noticed it when they were unpacking.

I guess until I actually get this gun in my hand I'll be second guessing the purchase. I've never bought a Norinco before so I'm not sure what to expect.

Norinco has a higher rate of 'lemonitis' than domestically made guns, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get one. I have a bunch of Norcs and all of them have been OK...most of them quite good.

I'd be all over this pistol if I was already shooting the 7.62x25...

I have a 1911 in 7.62 plus a number of Toks. I have used the 1911 and a new Polish Tok in CQB. Both shoot very well. 1911 is loaded mild with a lead SWC bullet. Polish with milsurp.

An excellent caliber to shoot.

A 1911 a little more customized to the round would be awesome.
