Dominion Arms shotgun ( Owners opinions)

polished the chamber already that really helped. how do you mod the mag? link?

I used my 12 gauge bore brush with some fine steel wool wraped around it, couple of drops of gun oil, put it in my drill and polished away. there are plenty of youtube vids on it.

What technique did you find effective for polishing the chamber. I haven' t had any problems so far but noticed that it is kind of rough. Suggestions??

12 gauge bore brush wrapped in fine steel wool covered in oil on a old cleaning rod chucked up in a drill, take your time.

Polish the feed lips and dent the front of the follower to make the shells load more front up I took it a step further and polished my followers especially on the bottom where it rides down the sides of the mag.

Heres a thread that show the dented Follower

Some people have trimmed a half coil off the mag spring as well as well look in the mag and see if theres a bur and check your feed ramp.

Well I have owned 2 870's, a Chinese Ithaca 37 clone, and for the last 2 years a 12.5" tube fed Grizzly.

Would I buy another 870 and give up my Grizzly not a chance! I just shake my head when I hear people say Chinese crap.... My Grizzly has worked perfectly out of the box and had really smoothened up with use.

It is my camp/hiking gun with no concerns.

I changed the forend to a aluminum model and installed a Hogue reduced LOP stock.

The Ithaca clone never felt right but I find the build quality and ghost rings of the Grizzly just right and for the cost it just can't be beat. I only use slugs and put them where I want them.

Never going to sell my Grizzly and never going to buy another 870 either.

Does the Hogue stock make a big difference with recoil?

I prefer the beefier Hogue stock and the texture over the original stock I do think it helps a bit but no matter what you bolt on slugs are punishing. Between the no nonsense finish, short barrel, and the sights it is just so much handier to use than the other longer barreled shotguns.

Never had a feed or cycling issue ever and figured after a few years of shooting it and having owned different shotguns including Mossies since the 70s, so I have a bit of an idea what I want for a pack gun.

Hard to beat the 870 design anyways and besides the 870 has more accessory choices than any other shotgun.

I want to get one of these but cant decide between the 8.5" and the 12.5" It will be coming out to the bush with me for wild life protection. I currently take my 590A1 which is heavy and long, so my main reason for looking at these was the shorty length. However for some reason the 8.5" version is $100 more then the 12.5" and some have said that the 12.5" is better. Would the 4" shorter one be worth the $100 difference and lower capacity if im looking for a short, light (compared to my 590A1) bush gun?

If you get the Reduced LOP hogue stock, the 12.5 is only 2" longer than the 8.5. But with the 12.5 you get the option of ghost rings (which I prefer), threaded chokes and interchangeable longer barrels as an option.
More range, more velocity, better potential accuracy, more capacity and cheaper by a wide margin.
I believe the price is different because of the volume of the orders, so it appears the 8.5" is less popular so you're paying extra for that.

Btw, the hogue stock is quite a bit lighter than the norinco one, so if weight is an issue, that's worth changing for sure.

Going back to the OP, I recommend that any new Norinco / Dominion Arms be stripped and have all fasteners lock tited and tightened before shooting. They make great copies, but the assembly QA is poor. Sometimes screws/nuts aren't even finger tight. So it's in your interest to make sure yours is in 100% condition first. That out of the way, they are fantastic.

The 12" Outlaw SxS is the most fun to shoot of all I have tried.

Are they reliable enough for bush defense? Certainly the tube feds are. I would certainly trust all the ones I've tried. They always work.

I suspect the reason that many people say they wouldn't trust one for bush defense is shot a new one with loose parts. A few 12 gauge shells later and they experience reliability issues.

Grizzy Mag works well, flawless if feeding good shells, IF you clean the magazines and the gun, degrease the whole gun, and then lightly lubricate it. Cosmoline caused 99% of the jams I've gotten.

I bought my 12.5" DA Grizzly tube fed from the first or second shipment CanAm brought in. ZERO issues, it just works! Only comment is the finish on the bolt & mag tube finish is not the greatest.

Great gun for the price!!!

Cheers

I too looked at the 8.5" but went with the 12.5". The ghost rings are a must, and stated before strip it down clean it, locktite what is needed, and put a bunch of trap loads thru it. If you want you can do some polishing but it all smoothens out with use.

So before a person dismisses one of these try a day with it and I am sure you will see what the others see and that it is a fantastic deal! Super handy, super reliable, just an all business workhorse no safe queen! :)

I have a 12.5 Dominion Arms shotgun. I have NEVER had any issues with it. It is a well built gun, heavy but built just as good as any Remington. Love it!

I have had my tube fed 12.5 inch for 5 years and I am pleased with it. The action has been "broken in" and it cycles as smooth as silk. Point of impact (for slugs) is point of aim at 25 meters so I am content with that. Zero problems. I put a Mesa 6 shot side saddle on it just for the heck of it and the set-up works well.

The 12.5 is not much longer and not much heavier and carries 2 more rounds. It can also use any other length Remington barrels and is compatible with 870 for ends with minimal modification.
And it's cheaper.
