Dominion Grizzly shotgun with 870 stock? Is it possible?

I'm wondering if anyone out there has tried fitting a Remington 870 pistol grip stock to one of the grizzly shotguns.
Anyone done it? Is it possible?
I've heard rumours that the griz is a Rem 870 clone. If that's true would the stocks be compatable?
Would be nice to know before spending coin on parts that don't fit.
 
Yes, the Chinese ‘Grizzly’ shotguns are practically dead-on copies of the Remington Model 870, and most parts interchange. This includes butt and forearm. There are, however, variants, such as in a pump grip which might cover part of the port when down, and smaller-gauge 870s made on lighter frames where the furniture won't quite fit. A regular ol' 12ga. pistol grip shouldn't be a problem for you.

If you have one of the 8,5" -barreled extra shorty versions, it has a special short magazine tube (and modified pump), which makes it impossible to lock on a regular barrel. (A standard pistol grip paired with a barrel under about 17,5" will be short enough [<660mm] to make it Restricted.)

Some of the other Norinco-marketed shotguns are based on other designs, though the HP9 is a Remington clone. Their 780 looks like one, and is obviously named to be confused with the 870, but it is not compatible (besides being a POS).
 
Don't bother with a pistol grip... unless you're breaching doors, it's about as useless as you can get.

Sure it looks cool... but super lame when trying to shoot it.

A full stock w/pistol grip (like a speedfeed) is a good buy if it's comfortable for you... but a pistol grip with no stock is useless. USELESS.
 
Thanks for the feedback guys, very helpfull:) And yes, pistol grip only is useless. I was thinking more like M4 style pistol grip with extendable butt stock. Purpose is to make a shorty shotty as backup when bowhunting. And yes you gotta keep the minimum overall length over 27 inches.
Why can't they just legalize restricted firearm open carry outside city limits already!

Actually, if you ALTER it to under 26", it would technically become prohibited, not restricted. :) There has been some debate if installing a different stock is 'altering' the gun. But my point still stands. USELESS. ;)
 
I second (third?) the notion that pistol grip stocks on shotguns are useless. Here is my Grizzly with furniture from a 870 Wingmaster.

But a shotgun with a pistolgrip looks soooooo bad! Maybe it'll just scare the bad guys and bears away!

According to the Criminal Code, a prohibited firearm is:

a firearm that is adapted from a rifle or shotgun, whether by sawing, cutting or any other alteration, and that, as so adapted,
is less than 660 mm in length, or
is 660 mm or greater in length and has a barrel less than 457 mm in length,

Changing the stock isn't altering it, cutting the stock down is. If you change the stock and its shorter than 660mm, you can take in to get verified as a restricted.
