Dominion Grizzly

My 12.5 with ghost rings has been my exclusive go to gun this year. Shes one solid performer, took allot of game, no deer though grrrr. Heres a good review of the copies, I truely believe they are built much better then the express http://www.firearmstalk.com/forums/f26/norinco-982-pardner-pump-protector-info-review-6488/. I dont know about the mag versions, not my cup of tea. The choke works extremely well with slugs and birdshot. I might get an extended choke for next year though. Im swapping out the stock as we speak and already went with a S&J follower and 870p spring. If one pops up buy it or I will, cheers

Had a Grizzly mag fed 15" model & fondled a 12." Grizzley ( no mag-tube).
My two cents,
both are fairly heavy but appear fairly well built considering its a Chinese gun.
What I didn't like:
- getting extra mags is impossible. He'll only sell one extra with each gun.
- the rifle sites are crap, the ghost ring not bad. I actually took off the rear rifle site and used the front site like a bead and aimed & shot it like a normal shotgun, for me it worked great.
- it locks open on the last round, so stuffing one down the pipe for a quick one isn't going to happen if the mag is empty you have to change it (with what I'm not sure, see complaint #1,6 & 7).
- the barrel guard is a cheesy plastic one.
- the recoil pad has that Chinese plastic/rubber smell...
- getting the amount of mags you need is impossible.
- did I mention you can't get enough mags...

I hate you.

I have the 12.5 with Ghost rings. I absolutely love it.
Several issues I had were:
-Tiny pits of rust on the endcap (it's a different metal or something?) I just ignore it since the pits are almost unoticble. Kind of odd since they don't appear anywhere else on the gun.
-A few failures to extract, on the el cheapo winchester target stuff. Now all sorted out. May have been me, may have been the shotgun, who knows.

Other than that, it's one solid (and heavy) gun. It has also smoothed out whole bunch, like one would expect of a pump gun.

Good responces everyone. Is there another 12.5" shotgun availiable by any other maker? Is it legal to cut down a pre-existing shotgun barrel to this length, re-bead it and use it so long as the overall length remains 26.5 inches or longer?
Thanks,
Drachenblut

IIRC Dlask is still making 12.5" Rem based guns. As to the cutting, a resounding 'no'. You cannot cut a barrel shorter than 457mm (~18") unless you want the gun to be prohibited...

CanAm......sign me up for four mags! I will call every week starting the second week of January! must have mags........

Hello,

I am looking for information, specs, but most importantly testimonials from owners about this shotgun, how it handles, fires, what kind of rounds people like to use, if it's any good to do close-range hunting (waterfowl?). Let's here some chitter chatter about this. I am interested in getting one but no one seems to even have them anymore. Last I heard the pre-order sold the entire lot out of Canada Ammo they had this summer.

Yours,
Drachenblut

:D
My DA Grizzly (12.5" bbl., tube magazine) is very accurate with rifled slugs.

2" groups or less at 25 yards with open sights.

The action is very smooth & hasn't jammed once with the 200 or so shells I've put through it.

It is very fast swinging & the Williams style aperture sights (ghost rings) get you right on target fast.

I have every intention of using it for deer hunting in shotguns only areas but haven't had the opportunuity yet.

One of the best gun purchases for the money that I ever made.

I'm just sorry I can't take it to the USA with me when I retire because of the barrel length & the fact that it's made by Norinco.

The grizzly is a cylinder choke so forget about shooting skeet!
It is however excellent for use against zombies and those 3:00AM uninvited visitors.

It is built like a tank and is great value for the money. It is quite possibly the best personal defence firearm on the market. I recommend the Brenneke tactical loads (slugs), the recoil is tamer than those 3" magnum howitzers which tend to give you a sore wrist.

As a home defence firearm, it is excellent.

Mine (12.5" with ghost rings) comes with a modified choke tube. I suppose that one could get a skeet choke for it if one really wanted it. IIRC maybe some of the earlier guns with the bead site were choked cylinder, though I'm pretty sure they also come with the tube.....am I wrong?

"The grizzly is a cylinder choke so forget about shooting skeet!"

Don't count it out for skeet - me and my cousin took one out a couple of weeks ago. You have to get on them quick and the rifle sights took some getting used to, but we got the hang of it.

I have the 15" Mag fed Grizzly with a collapsible Knox stock and I just put a scope on it for extra accuracy. It's built really well and makes a perfect home defense shotgun. I still need to buy an extra mag or two once CanAm gets them in stock again. You have to work the cycling in a little and I had to shave the lips off the box mag to get it to cycle smoothly and not have shells jam up. Otherwise, a great value shotgun. :D

Damn you guys! I was going to get a ghost ring version but bought a Russian SKS for now instead. I need to win a lottery!!! LOL. Great to hear that its a good shotgun, I need something compact and light(relativly) for camping. Are the ghost rings of good quality?

I like mine, certainly tough though my front post is a bit crooked.
