Hi all, I picked up a zastava M85 and a thousand rounds in the last canadaAmmo sale and was wondering if anyone out there has used that ammo on deer sized game with any success? I can certainly pick up some priv soft points just curious to hear results if anyone has tried them on game. Thanks.

Couple guys in my hunting party tried using the bulk hollow point 7.62x39 with poor results, just pass throughs with any expansion. Never again. Soft points have been working great.

It is really not designed to expand well. It is just to be suitable for places where FMJ is not allowed. Given how few rds are used in hunting, investing in a box of hornady, etc is wise for game. Alternately, substituting bullets

I have recoverd a few hp's from the dirt and trees and they had opened nice and were mangled, so maby if you hit a bone i can imagine great damage, but i would spend the extra little bit for reliable hunting ammo for a hunt

This. They only exist for markets that fmj is illegal. They are cheap plinking ammo and nothing more. Not recommended for hunting anything but small game (and even then its not your best option.)

I plugged 300lb sow with barnauls 7.62x39 123gr hp and
It blew a fist size hole in the shoulder
I found the copper jacket wrapped up inside and she ran a good
100yds.

Neck shot a 150lb sow with the same ammo and DRT
Didnt find anything of the bullet as it whizzed through

I am going to try SP next when they become available
At my LGS
