Hello all and Happy easter!!

I am in need of some help. A while back i bought 5k each of the large and small rifle primers.

Over the weekend I was doing some reloading and I could not get those primers to feed reliably in my Dillon 550b.

For whatever reason the seemed to keep jamming up in the primer feeding tube. I am speaking specifically about the large rifle primers. (I have yet to work with the small rifle primers)

I find this strange as other brands of North American primers work just fine.

The only way I could get them to prime the brass reliably was to use my RCBS Auto Md Priming Tool.

I bought these primers specifically for bulk 308 reloads for use in my AR-10.

Using the primer tool is a seperate step, and i am truly not interested in in first priming the brass and then running them through my Dillion. (Which seems to be the only way i can work with them)

I have been reloading for years, and this is the first time i have come across this and i am at a loss.

I was wondering if anyone else was experincing this issue, and what your fix was.

I have already sent CandaAmmo an email, but I thought I would also try the colletive wisdom of the CGN as well.

Before anyone asks, I have also tried searching the interent, however my google-fu must be week as I have found nothing relevent.

Any help you could provide me would be appreciated!!

Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and I look forward to your consturtive response

Like Joe stated, measure them, sounds like they may be a little too big. I had an issue a few days ago with lrg pistol in a Dillon 650 the primer magazine tube was out of spec. First time I had used it.

What about adding a weight to the rod that sits on top of the primers? I assume that the problem is they won't slide down the tube?

There is. Certain amount of variation between primers, but it's very small. Having said that, I've run into primers before that were incompatible with various reloading systems. You may have to reserve the DR primers for other purposes Richard, sorry. If the issue is that they are too tight circumferentially for the primer tube a weighted rod could help, I've used this before on Dillons. - dan

I had an issue in my 650 the problem turned out to be the that the anvil in the primer was not seated all the way down and was up just enough to bung the process up

The anvil is supposed to sit proud of the cup. Seating a primer properly will pre-load the anvil against the case.

If they are made to the same specs as Russian Wolf primers they will have a larger diameter than American made primers. That's not a bad thing considering the size of Winchester brass primer pockets of late.

Gents

I very much appreciate the constructive input.

I was very excited to get my hands on some of these, as I know some very competitive and winning F-class shooters (like Brad Sauve) are using these primers in there load chain. So they are quality and affordable as well. Not something we see often these days, and I thought they would be just the ticket for my practice AR-10 reloads.

That being said, I think they are ever so slightly larger, and are not really compatible with the Dillion 550B Priming system.

Further investigation has revealed that the primers seem to become jammed in the transition from the metal feeding tube portion, to the plastic tips.

Oh well, that's how it goes some times.

The good news is that they seem to feed well and seat more consistently using the RCBS Auto-priming tool, (which I happen to have on hand!!)

I look forward to giving these primers a try in my reloads, and seeing what the results are out of both my AR-10 and my bolt gun.

Again, thank you all for your time and your input!!
