I have a few different thicknesses of steel to play with, but am starting with quarter inch thick stuff. Plan is to guncoat it later.

I was thinking of making the buttpad out of brass but the thickest I could find at home depot was the kickstop stuff which is a little to thin.


Anybody have an idea where in Winnipeg I can find thick brass plate?

I can't remember the name of the place but there is a specific listing for brass in the yellow pages in Winnipeg, also try metal superstore, NAMASCO LIMITED, Russel Metals, all kinds of places. Most Steel places also sell brass and bronze and copper. Just look in the yellow pages.

All the security door handles guards I found at Rona and Home depot had holes in all the wrong places.

use a decent piece of brass, polish it with chromium oxide (green honing compound) and it will look like a million bucks, and be able to bash something if you need to...
