I have started using dominion primers for my 9mm reloads and have noticed a few light primer strikes per 100 rounds lately.

Anyone else noticed that in their glocks?

I didn't notice anything different about the case, primer depth or anything else... I tossed the cases just to make sure but I'm not sure about the cause.

Crimp is not excessive, nothing different vs the rounds that go bang.

Might be time to replace your striker spring. I use both the small pistol and small rifle in all sorts of handguns without any issue aside from the occasional dud.

Ok, I will have a look at this, maybe striker channel has some brass debris in it or whatever. Round count is not so high, probably around 2-3K I don't know.

some guy at my target club had Dominion small rifle primers for sale the other day and he said he was useing them in a stock Glock he had sold. I have'nt heard any complaints about those primers as of yet. better check your striker.

Ran a bunch through my G22 with no problems. Make sure you're seating the primers fully. Might be time to do a full strip of the slide and degreasing/cleaning.

I've been averaging the same amount of light primer strikes with DA primers also. I chatted with a couple of ROs and they said that DA primers are known to be a tad too hard.

For kicks and giggles, the rounds with "light strikes" were then subsequently put into a hammer fired pistol and fired with no malfunction.

As some suggest, you could clean your striker assembly - I did but other than having a cleaner striker assembly, I still had light primer strikes.

Hummm, I should check and see if I had replaced my G22 with an extra power striker spring. Could be why I haven't seen any light strikes.

Edit: Dug into the spare parts bin. Looks like I'm running Zev's competition spring kit in my G22.

Dominion primers are harder than some others. Getting a couple primer f2f per hundred kind of indicates that your glock has just barely enough spring pressure to fire them and needs a bit harder strike to be reliable. New/stronger springs and cleaning are things to consider. Srings wear out and lose strength with use. Maybe you just need new springs.

Some say they are even harder than CCI, but my Berettas with D spring have no issues with them. My (extremely) lightened revolver however has no chance and needs Federal.

The only gun i have had light strikes with domionion primers is a wheel gun with a light spring. I put them on par with winchester hardness.

Glock 17, probably north of 4000 rounds with dominion primers, no issues. Stock config though. People who 'tweak' their guns could potentially have problems with it, I guess.

who sells glock firing pin springs in canada?
or can I order from the us?

Wolff springs does, i've ordered once from them and was happy with them. i should order new springs for all my guns as i haven't changed any since owning them.

Checked, striker is free in the channel, and the striker spring is OEM.
Just to make sure, I will remove that whole competition trigger kit that I have in it, and go back to 100% stock.
Then, if I still get light primer strikes, that means those primers are a little too hard for the OEM glock spring and I will probably need the stronger spring. (red)

Strange. I too have been through a case (5,000) of the Dominion small rifle primers and have had no issues in either my CZ or my Glock 17. Both have reduced power striker/firing pin springs.

I wish DA would bring in more of the primers...I quite like them especially at under $0.03 per primer.

Can't comment on the Glock, but if I am going to have issues with light strikes in a 9mm firearm, it's usually one of my Beretta CX4 carbines. I've shot about 1000 of DA 9mm ammo through them now with no problem.

I liked those Dominion primers too. Wish I had bought more.

Unless there are different batches, I can guarantee they aren't too hard. A commercial reloader locally has ran 50,000+ of the dominion and hasn't had light primer strikes (afaik). I've run 10,000 of the dominion through my glock 17, CZ shadowline and CZ Shadow2 with no light primer strikes over the past year. How do I know i've ran that many? I'm out of them.. hoping CanAm will bring in more. Resorted to using my S&B for now :)
