Don't forget to tap your adjustment knobs!!!

Is it ever preferable to use a slap rather than a tap? How about a good smack? I assume a smash is going too far. During "F" class matches, I notice none of the guys tap, slap, or smack their scopes. If I adopt this technique, will it give me an edge? Regards, Bill.

Yes Bill...it certainly will. :)

Remember once you finish your rap-a-tap-tappin.....to also to "Jump down, turn around and pick a bale of cotton"!

Jeff.

I do it too!

All i know is that rifle and scope shot like a laser beam for the last month. I go to zero the scope for hunting, then it shoot eradically. I tap the caps and the hairs settle and its back to under 1/2" MOA.

I do this as well...typically, I use an empty cartridge casing to lightly tap the turret screw head after making an adjustment - regardless of what scope I am using. In my experience, it accomplishes the same thing as the next shot would have done...all it can possibly do is save a little frustration and ammunition. :)

Any scope that requires tapping to adjust should immediately be donated to Laidlaw's or BFI...This is turned out to be good reading, if not for the imbedded humour.

I dont tap my scope, but I give my arse a good scratch before I shoot. Keeps me still in the seat.........

I sure hope you use your left hand Randy.

Just to be safe I am going to wash my hands next time we pow wow!

I can vouch for Dave not afraid to rap his scope, but he usually gets his Dad to do it for him when taking shots at sheep.:D Sorry Dave, can't resist. Hope the felt marker stays on for you!

Tap your knob(s), scratch your butt, rub your nards, pull your ear, blow the smoke out of the barrel, start a new post or make sure the headstamp on the cartridge is "up" so you can read it ... whatever floats your boat !

Every time I see a cheap scope in one o' them see-thru squinty mounts, I want to give it a tap too ... like knock it clean-off that crappy old
jam-o-matic with a humungous rock ! ;)
