Dont hate

What's done is done. :)

Bubba-ing aside, I personally find the black of the pistol grip to not fit in with the wood. Esp the light coloured bits. As far as the wood goes, to me (a hobby woodworker), I find the contrast between the light and dark colouring to be too much and therefore, unpleasant. To each their own though. :)

That is nice constructive criticism. Rare these days. Thank you.
I will sand it down till I get white all around and then seal it dark.

Will post pics when im done

Personally I would have just put an aftermarket stock on it if I wanted a pistol gripped SKS that badly... at least then you could switch it back to original if you wanted

I love the history behind these things and anything soviet. Im russian its in my blood and I have family who were in the war. I appreciate them and what they did for our generation. Still need to make it comfortable for me in todays age

I think that's the prettiest thing that I've ever seen, except for when I look in the mirror!

The Russians don't give a #### what you do with that gun. I prefer the original military look for the SKS so I leave mine the way it is. I've actually been looking for a Type 56 Carbine being sold locally but no one ever has one.

You couldve sold the all matching non refurb for a lot more money and have gotten a chicom sks + $$ to make it look better than what you have done so far.

For stripping the shellac you shouldve used paintballs, sorbitol, or furniture stripper. Would have been less work and come out much cleaner than what you have done. No sanding needed. Right now the rifle looks like Steve Carrel in 40 year old virgin, and being a non refurb...I feel like him:

A less common all matching non refurb collectors item wrecked. Thanks Bubba. I wouldve gladly taken it from you and given you a replacement to butcher on my dime.

Looks like a good project ! I bubbaed mine too , but I kept my original stock ( refurb ) , gas tube and magazine , and I switch back and forth between the two . When I've got the dreaded " tactical itch " I bolt on the black stock and when I want to revisit history , I bolt on the brown . I like these stock projects , they really get you in touch with the inner workings of your gun , it reminds me of a 3d puzzle .

It's not for me by any means, and I wouldn't buy it off the EE, but if it's comfortable than it's comfortable, to each their own. Personally, I would've just changed the stock, (namely the new Archangel that's coming out, damn that's ###y) but hey, not my gun not my problem.
